Wow, yeah that does not sound pleasant. In my experience, it just seems like a poorly trained or brand new rep doing those verifications and they’re not willing or able to deviate from some “standard” list of forms.
A few years ago I was applying for a sizeable car loan, the only reason the lender tried to deny was I never had a loan amount that big before. But everything else was in line: debt ratio, credit, income, employment history, down payment…everything.
They must have come up with (I kid you not) 2 dozen different reasons for trying to turn me down, but I kept pressing for the approval and turning down every one of their reasons until they eventually approved me.
Having a background as a credit analyst/underwriter at a bank served me well in that situation lol!
]]>Agreed – I have excellent credit and 5+ cards with no balance carried. WF said they couldn’t verify my identity. Sitting in their office with a passport, DL and handfull of cards wasn’t good enough. Later they called and said I had past due invoices -not for 25+ years (if ever!) They were not interested in my business at all.
]]>Very nice, congrats on the approval!
]]>Probably the same reason they don’t list cards like Fidelity Rewards card that pay 2% of actual cash back: the commission rates aren’t as good.
